Don Giannatti has been a photographer for nearly 40 years, and has had studios in Phoenix, Chicago and New York. He was a fashion and beauty shooter for the first half of his photographic career, and now adds "Americana" portraiture and travel work to his diverse subjects. He has written three photography books for Amherst Media (avail on Amazon) and taught two highly acclaimed workshops on CreativeLIVE. He lives in Arizona and travels extensively throughout the West and Northwest. He is also a designer who specializes in working with small businesses and photographers. The Candid Frame #198 - David Strick

David Strick has worked as an editorial, advertising and corporate photographer whose interest in the entertainment world has led him to originate documentary behind-the-scenes print and web features for major media companies, including eleven years of producing a monthly photo column for Premiere Magazine entitled “David Strick’s Hollywood,” 2 ½ years of originating and photographing a web/print feature called “David Strick’s Hollywood Backlot” for the Los Angeles Times, and a web/print feature for The Hollywood Reporter, entitled “David Strick’s Hollywood.”

He is the author of the book “Our Hollywood” (Atlantic Monthly Press), and his photographs have won awards in the professional publications Communication Arts, American Photography, Society of Publication Designers and Graphis.

He has taught at Art Center College of Design, lectured at UCLA Extension, and the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University. He has served on the board of APA/Editorial Photographers, and as an honorary member of the Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers. Don Komarechk is a Barrie, Canada based nature & landscape photographer with a passion for photographing the unseen world. From abandoned buildings to swirling stars, lightning to snowflakes, Don’s images convey a sense of curiosity and wonder.

Active in the photographic community, Don is a teacher, author and explorer. Writing a regular column in Outdoor Photography Canada and teaching many nature photography workshops, he’s always willing to share his knowledge and secrets. 

Seeing the world beyond visual perception is a driving force is Don’s photography. His latest project is an in-depth study of snowflakes. From a photographic perspective and with a scientific mind, the images offer a compelling look into a subject we rarely appreciate. The Candid Frame #171 - Dean West

Dean West, “one of the world’s best emerging photographers” (AFTER CAPTURE MAGAZINE), has a highly conceptual and thought-provoking style of contemporary portraiture. His body of work has been featured in top photography magazines, art galleries, and received numerous international awards.

Born in small-town rural Australia in 1983, Dean’s love for photography began in his high school’s darkroom- one of the largest darkrooms in the country at the time- and blossomed at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia.   

After graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Photography with majors in visual culture and advertising, Dean formed a partnership, Berg+West, which won nationwide acclaim as a high-end photography and post-production studio. Through clients like the QLD Government and SONY, Dean quickly learned to transform stick figure sketches into intricate composited photographs with immense detail and clarity.  

In 2008, Dean was included in Saatchi & Saatchi’s collection of the world’s top 100 emerging photographers and went on to win Advertising Photographer of the Year at the International Aperture Awards. With success in advertising and a growing list of collectors- Dean decided to dedicate more of his time to the world of art. 

In the following years, his series ‘Fabricate’ received worldwide recognition from top photography competitions, including: the International Colour Awards, the Lucie Awards, the Loupe Awards, and in 2009, Dean was the winner of the IV International Arte Laguna Prize, Venice, Italy. This final award being the most prestigious for emerging artists with over 5,000 applicants gunning for the top prize in photography, sculpture and painting. Zoom Magazine quickly nominated Dean in the ‘New Talent’ issue of 2010 and the Magenta Foundation awarded Dean an emerging Photographer of Canada.

The Candid Frame #164 - Bruce Dorn

Bruce Dorn  has enjoyed a rich and varied career as a Director, Cameraman, and Photographer, his formal training is in Design. Bruce spent four years as an Associate Professor of Design at Indiana University where he taught advanced courses in both Photography and Design.

As a Mechanical Designer, Bruce has earned acclaim as a builder of custom motorcycles and racing cars. His efforts have been featured in mainstream enthusiast magazines such as Hot Bike and Hot Rod. Insiders credit Bruce with the inspiration of the hugely popular Harley Davidson Fat Boy that appeared shortly after one of his clients, Willie G. Davidson, spent hours pouring over the details of one of Bruce’s pet projects.

The Candid Frame #141 - Lauri Lyons

Lauri Lyons is  a photographer who's photographic range has enabled her to shoot celebrity portraits, ad campaigns and documentaries. She has worked in Africa, Australia, Brazil, Europe, Mexico and the United States. Her photographs have appeared in such publications as The London Observer, Stern, The Fader and Art Forum. She is the first Black woman to shoot the cover of Fortune magazine.

Lauri is the author of two acclaimed books; Flag:An American Story (2001) and Flag International (2008). She was the commissioned portrait photographer for the book INSPIRATION: Portraits of Black Women Changing Our World (2012).
