The Candid Frame #114 - Rick Nahmias

Rick Nahmias is a photographer, writer and visual storyteller whose work has been shown across North America, Europe, and Asia. He creates social-issue themed media projects for foundations, non-profits, corporations and cause-driven organizations. He also shoots freelance assignments with an emphasis on editorial, travel, medical and food subjects.

He is best known for documenting the lives and struggles of numerous marginalized communities. "Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the Disinherited," his traveling photographic, text and audio exhibit which documents eleven marginalized communities at prayer was recently published by University of New Mexico Press. His acclaimed body of work exploring California's agricultural workforce "The Migrant Project: Contemporary California Farm Workers" was published in 2008. The Candid Frame #113 - Richard Koci Hernandez

Richard Koci Hernandez is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His passion for visual storytelling began in his years as a staff photographer at the San Jose Mercury News and continues today in both his personal work and his collaboration with students, including those at the Graduate School of Journalism at U.C. Berkeley. His early embracing of multimedia was ahead of its time and provided him an opportunity to help define a storytelling which is still in its infancy. The Candid Frame #111 - Aaron Huey

Aaron Huey is an American photojournalist and documentary photographer who is most widely known for his walk across America in 2002 and his work on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He demonstrates a passion for his subject matter that goes well beyond merely documenting people and events with a camera. Very much on the vein of great photographers such as W. Eugene Smith, Huey uses his camera not only to create unforgettable imagery, but to raise a level of awareness on subject matter that he considers important and worthy of the attention of today's society. The Candid Frame #103 - Jo Ann Santangelo

Jo Ann Santangelo is a documentary photographer whose career with a camera began as a pedi-cab driver in Austin, Texas. While studying at the International Center of Photography, she began a project documenting veterans impacted by the United State's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. She has recently finished traveling across the country where she created a series of portraits with these veterans. Her documentary projects revolve around community and putting faces and revealing the stories of the parts of our communities that many of us do not or choose not to see. The Candid Frame #84 - Stephen Marc

Stephen Marc, Olympus Visionary photographer and art professor at Arizona State University’s Herberger College of Fine Arts, is recognized for his unique and powerful photographic montages that explore the African Diaspora. His images combine family snapshots, antique photographs and images from his own extensive body of photographic work. The dual themes of all his work are an attempt to tell both his personal story and the story of a culture.

Marc’s current project, Passage on the Underground Railroad, explores North America’s Underground Railroad, which moved escaped slaves to freedom. For over four years, he took more than 30,000 photographs of people and places in 21 states and Canada. The project culminated in a book and exhibition of Marc’s Underground Railroad artwork.
